English B (HL/SL)

English B is designed for students who have prior experience with English but are not native speakers. The course develops confident communication skills through the exploration of global themes such as identity, culture, social organization, and human ingenuity.

Students strengthen their reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities while analyzing a range of texts, including articles, interviews, short stories, and media sources. At Higher Level (HL), students engage in more in-depth literary study and advanced written tasks, while Standard Level (SL) focuses on building strong, practical language proficiency. At EduPrep, students don’t just improve their English — they gain the confidence and clarity to communicate effectively in academic and real-world contexts.

Our Tailored Learning Approach

At EduPrep, we understand that no two English B students are the same. Some need stronger grammatical foundations, others need refinement in structure, analysis, or fluency.
That is why we design personalised learning plans based on each student’s:

  • >> Current Language Proficiency

    We assess:

    Vocabulary range and precision
    Grammatical accuracy
    Sentence structure complexity
    Reading comprehension level
    Listening and speaking fluency

This allows us to identify whether a student needs foundational reinforcement or advanced refinement.

  • Preparation differs depending on ambition:

Grade 5 - Strengthening structure, clarity, and consistent task fulfilment
Grade 6 - Developing analytical depth and linguistic sophistication
Grade 7 - Refining precision, complexity, and examiner-level insight

Each target grade requires different strategy and performance expectations.

  • We identify:

    Writing structure weaknesses
    Limited vocabulary repetition
    Grammar patterns causing mark loss
    Oral delivery challenges
    Time management issues in exams

Each target grade requires different strategy and performance expectations.

  • We align our preparation with:

    School-assigned texts and themes
    Predicted grades
    Grammar patterns causing mark loss
    IA and Individual Oral progress
    Teacher feedback

This ensures consistency between school learning and EduPrep support.

  • Language confidence directly affects performance. We work on:

Structured rehearsal techniques for the Individual Oral
    Fluency-building speaking drills
    Reducing hesitation and anxiety
    Writing under timed conditions
    Developing academic tone and clarity

Our goal is not only higher marks, but confident, independent communication.
